back to the movies

Until a year ago this blog was about my effort to watch, in chronological order, all of the movies listed in the book 1,001 Movies You Must See Before You Die and to write a response piece to each one.

Haven’t tended that garden in a while.

I made it to essay #329 and then got sidetracked, after a couple months in quarantine, by the novel I was working on, Various Positions, which flopped among agents, and left me feeling dejected, and so I jumped immediately into the podcast and then, for a second avenue of escape, I did an eBook that I released in October, followed by another eBook that I released for my thirtieth birthday a few weeks ago.

So now I’m not working on any particular project, acting as though I should be looking to start something new, when meanwhile this unfinished movie thing is dangling off a cliff, waiting to be finished.

KWadsworth, who’s doing her own version of Thousand Movie Project over at moviecrashcourse.com, has been in regular contact over the past three years and she left a comment on one of my recent posts asking if I’m still trying to watch and write about all these movies.

So now I’m back on it.

Return of the Prodigal Son, Rembrandt

It’s done.

We’re here.

Back to normal programming.
